A big thank you to all of the hard-working volunteers who brought us an amazing book fair this year!  It was a great success.

Best wishes for a filling and relaxing Thanksgiving break.  I have posted some new favorites just in time for the holiday season at my pininterest site.  If you would like some fresh suggestions, please take a look.

We've finally scheduled our Sibling Storytime dates for the next few months. Join us for stories and songs for the younger set on November 8, December 6, January 24, and February 14. OES siblings (4 and younger) with their caregivers are welcome. The story-time starts at 8:00 after drop-off and we will wrap up around 8:30. There is plenty of time to enjoy our book-filled space, listen to stories, meet some new faces and to check out materials. I'll be sharing classics, favorites and will have new recommendations for you to borrow.

Thank you, Ms. Frazee

!st-3rd graders were terrific listeners and observers as Marla Frazee shared her experience of being an author and illustrator.  She talked about how she will re-draw and re-draw a picture until it is just right and how she always knew that she wanted to create picture books.

T-shirts are here!

Words+Books+Brain=Fun!  That's the colorful motto you will find on the 2011 summer reading t-shirts.  We'll be handing out over 130 t-shirts this week during our library classes.

Next week, we are honored to have author/illustrator Marla Frazee joining our 1-3 graders to discuss her work.  The illustrator of the Clementine series and a two-time Caldecott Honor winner, she is truly a leading figure in today's world of children's literature and illustration.  Thanks to Children's Place bookstore, Kim Bissell and FOESL for making this visit possible.

Origami Cranes for Japan

In response to the recent disasters in Japan, we are creating a virtual gift for Japan.  During open library times, students are encouraged to fold origami cranes which will be hung from the library ceiling.  Our goal is 1000 and we will be digitally documenting our creation.  We will send our virtual gift and wishes to a school in Japan.  Please come by and make a crane for Japan.
