And we have winner!

It was a full house yesterday as 12 teams competed to see who will represent OES at the Regionals on March 15th.  The final battle was between "Hand to Book Combat" from Ms. Williams' class and "JCAR" from Ms. Sathyaraj's class.  After a fiercely fought tie-breaker round, JCAR claimed victory.  Congratulations to Jonah, Cameron, Amelia, Ronit and Ashwin!  Thanks to all our amazing readers, parents, and classroom teachers for supporting our Oregon Battle of the Books competition.

Tomorrow is the DAY!

After months of reading, thinking, discussing and honing their teamwork skills, 28 teams competed to see who will represent their classroom at our in-house Oregon Battle of Books.  The competition happens tomorrow at 12:00 pm in the Library.  We have had 22 mini-battles in the past 6 days and are so excited to see the final matches tomorrow between the remaining 12 teams.  Our final winning team will represent OES at the OBOB regional battle on March 15th!

Team Unicorn Schnitzels from Ms. Busick's 5th grade celebrate a score!

"Reading Makes Me a Writer"

Words of wisdom from Roland Smith this afternoon with our 3, 4, and 5th graders.

"Write about what is important you."
"I'm not the best writer, but I am a reader.  I read 2 to 3 books a week.  Always have.  Reading makes me a writer."

Thanks to FOESL and Patrick Fuller, our Middle School Librarian, for arranging the visit!
