Vacations are the ideal time for your child to explore their reading preferences and dig into some series and books that they thoroughly enjoy.  As always we will encourage summer reading through our OES Summer Reading Challenge, but also consider spring break as an opportunity for your child to develop their pleasure reading skills.  Many of you have heard me make the analogy that book preferences are like food.  We have our favorite comfort foods yet we should always try a taste of something new and try to make sure our plates are balanced.  Think of vacation as a mix of new tastes along with the comfort of the familiar.
