Laura Marsh Shares Her Knowledge!

Thanks to the generous support of FOESL (Friends of the OES Library), we had the honor of hosting, National Geographic Early Reader author, Laura Marsh.  She presented fascinating facts about "Ugly Animals" from her latest book and also give great insight about how she approaches research and the creation of questions.  Step One-Visit the Library!!

She met with 2nd graders who are in the midst of their own in-depth research on heroes and also visited Mr. Whitmore's 1st grade class and Primary.  She reinforced the skills we are building, both in library and the classroom, around research, inquiry and non-fiction texts.

April is Poetry Month!

We will be celebrating April Poetry Month here in the Lower School Library with Haiku, Shel Silverstein and amazing novels written in verse (come check out our specially selected books in our poetry display).

Here is a great conversation with poet and Newbery winner, Kwame Alexander about why poetry matters to young readers.
