We Prize Our OES Readers!

Finally, after weeks of waiting, our summer reading tote bags are here!  Thanks to our 115 participants who shared their summer reading logs with us.  Tote bags-filled with "prizes"- will be handed out this week and next during regularly scheduled library classes. Here our two of our fabulous 5th graders helping prep the bags.

First DEAR of the year!

This morning the new Lower School was filled with readers, from our youngest Aardvarks to our 8th graders, as Middle School joined us.  Starting the morning with quiet reading, either independently or with a buddy, was a perfect way to end our first full week of school.

National Book Award Contenders

Take a look at this article about the long list for the National Book Award contenders for Young People's Literature.  An excellent list.  We own several of them-mostly titles appropriate for 3rd, 4th and 5th grades.

Welcome Back!

Welcome to the first week of school in our brand new space!  If you haven't yet visited, please do. Our library is full of fantastic books, cozy reading nooks, and has a stellar view of the field and distant hills.  Summer Reading forms are due Monday, September 12th and there is a drop off box at the main entrance of our library in addition to extra forms if you have lost yours.  Classes have begun and I am sharing with my classes a terrific new book about a recently built school's first day. . . "School's First Day of School" by Adam Rex and illustrated by Christian Robinson (who we had the good fortune to host last fall).  A perfect story for our opening week!

And here are some pictures of our new school!
