With such fall weather setting the stage, classes from PreK through 5th grade have been listening to stormy and spooky stories during our library classes. We have enjoyed the exceptionally written "The Dark" by Lemony Snicket and illustrations by Jon Klassen. It is a perfect study in how to build suspense through both text and illustration. And for a bit of color and sweetness we have enjoyed "Vunce Upon a Time" by J. Otto Siebold and illustrated by Siobhan Vivian about Dagmar, a vegetarian, candy-loving vampire.

Once again, we were fortunate to welcome author Mac Barnett to our Lower School Library where 1st and 2nd grades were treated to writing tips and the chance to listen to two fantastic stories. In honor of our current election season, he read "President Taft is Stuck in the Bath". We were frightened by the "blank page" and sang happy birthday to his most recent book, "The Magic Word"-if you think the magic word is please, think again. Thanks to Green Bean Books for helping make this visit possible!
